Trailer for your Weekend: The Internship
I think that most would agree the careers of Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson have not exactly been setting the world on fire of recent years, with the exception of the latter’s turn in Woody Allen’s Midnight in Paris. Their high point together, if you consider there has been one, was Wedding Crashers an ultra successful comedy. It looks like they are looking to rekindle their comedic relationship with The Internship. And the results look highly unpromising. I did not find anything in this trailer to suggest that comedic sparks are going to fly. Or even that anything the remotest bit original is going to fly. Looks pretty groan inducing. I think it may also be some form of ad for Google.

Trailer for your Weekend: White House Down
A quick interruption to Silent Film Week, to bring you something loud, boisterous and most likely daft from the mind of Roland Emmerich, the master of those three things. His latest effort is White House Down. And as you can see from the trailer below it appears to be an excuse for the ever subtle Mr Emmerich to mash some more American landmarks. Will it bring anything more to the table? Doubtful, but I guess we will just have to wait and see.

Trailer for your Weekend: Citizen Hearst
Sometimes I post a trailer in this feature that really does not take my fancy, and this week is one of those times. When I saw the title of this forthcoming doco, I was really excited. A peer into the life of the man that so famously inspired Citizen Kane, one of the greatest films in history. Erm no. This appears to be a trailer for a bloody ad for the media empire that Hearst built. Count me out.
Am I being too harsh?

Trailer for your Weekend: The Frankenstein Theory
I stumbled across this the other day without having heard anything about the film. Tis a fantastic premise – that Frankenstein was actually based on true events. The trailer depicts a somewhat bizarre mix of B movie and homage to the imagery of Shelley’s book. Doesn’t quite convince, but I think I will be keen to check this one out when hit hits cinemas (or more likely DVD). Thoughts people?

Trailer for your Weekend: Room 237
I’m not featuring this trailer for the movie so much (though I am very keen to see it), but rather the bold and artistic trailer. So great to see people take a really different approach to a trailer and this one really grabbed me. Simple, but very clever and effective. Great music, a great shot and a great payoff in under 2 minutes. What do you guys think of it?

A Week at Bernie’s Trailer(s) for Your Weekend
My first thought for this post was to post a trailer for an upcoming Jack Black film. But turns out there are none. So, I thought I would watch and then share a bunch of trailers for Jack Black films that I have not yet seen. I have to admit, based on this evidence there are not too many Jack Black films that I haven’t seen that I am desperate to catch up on.
Anyways, rack up some competition entries by letting me know which of these five you have seen and what you thought of them. Who knows, there might be a Week at Bernie’s 2 in which case I will have to check some of these out.
Want to win a copy of Bernie thanks to Madman Entertainment? Check out the details here on how to enter.

Trailer for your Weekend: Star Trek Into Darkness

For some reason, this was billed as an “announcement” on the site where I watch my trailers, so I almost didn’t click on it.
But it’s a teaser trailer, and an utterly killer one. I enjoyed the first Star Trek film (the first of these new ones – you know what I mean). That’s coming from someone who has never even watched a Star Trek TV show or film before. And seeing this suddenly has me hanging out for the next entry. Benedict Cumberbatch!!! Sherlock is one of my favourite shows of recent years, so seeing that man in a major villain role is enough to get me excited for this. Everything else is pretty cool too. What do you guys think of this one?
On a side note, any Star Trek fans out there? Would love to hear suggestions on the best way to start exploring the canon. Every time I look for a way in, I am just too intimidated by the sheer number of different versions of the TV show. Not sure where the start is, or if I should even be starting from the start.
