Trailer for your Weekend: Oblivion

Oblivion

Coming hot on the heels of last week’s awesome sci-fi trailer comes this one for Oblivion. Taking the old Planet of the Apes conceit of showing today’s icons in their future dilapidated state seems to be the focus and it looks awesome. Well the beaten up old stuff looks cool. What does not look as good to me is the human side of things. Some pretty questionable dialogue and cringeworthy moments in this.

Hopefully it sticks to a real sci-fi centric approach though, because this looks as though it has the budget and visual punch to be something quite cool.

I do like a good Sci-Fi, however experience has taught me that most are not good..

    1. Yeah it can definitely be a hit and miss genre. What are some of your favourites?

        My favourites –
2001 was inspiring in its day, looks dated now but the concept still hangs together, I always say read the short story that it was based on first. The Sentinel by Arthur C Clarke, puts a whole new light on it.
Blade Runner, Gothic splendour, cool music and some very dated computer gear 😀
Solaris, the George Clooney version, I read the book by Stanislaw Lem and enjoyed both.

  2. Loved the visuals but I was super bored by this trailer.

    1. Cheers for commenting Fernando. I pretty much agree with you actually. It sort of reminds me of the Dredd trailer, which had me super excited for the first 20 secs or so because of how awesome it looked, but then it was all downhill from there.
